My work is created in order to acknowledge, consider and reveal various aspects of human nature and human experience. I am interested in the depth and complexity which exists beneath our physicality.
Each work starts out as a monotype: a one-of-a-kind print. I work into a sheet of plexiglass with a palette knife to create an image. When pressure is applied between the plexiglass and paper, boundaries are broken and perfectly defined marks become altered which cause unexpected changes and distortions to occur. This process of reverse application challenges me to work spontaneously and limits the amount of control I have in creating a precise, detailed image. When I work in this way I am reminded that perfection is not the aim but expression is.
With sincere gratitude, I thank all of you who have taken an interest in my work. To those of you who have purchased my new greeting cards, thank you for making them such a great success in such a short time! It has been very exciting and fulfilling for me to merge my creations with my favorite quotations and to share them with so many. Every piece I create carries a significance...Every image I work on means something to me...
